Jim Wilkinson landed on Sword Beach on June 14th as part of the 6th Battery, Kings Own Scottish Borderers, 15th Scottish Divis ion. He made his way from the beaches through Cheux to Hill 112. He was part of a diversionary attack to take the pressure off those taking Caen. Jim went on to assist the American 1st Army at their position at Caumont, through the breakout at Coutance down to Avranches, from where they advanced through France and into Belgium. |
