Tentative plans are being made that this year we will have an annual Christmas Lunch/Reunion as an alternative to our usual evening dinner. This has come about due to the needs of some of our aging veterans who have been a bit reluctant in the past in coming out on a cold December night and then having a late journey home. So this year we will try a a Christmas lunch during daylight hours instead.
In addition, we have often faced similar problems in early January for our annual general meeting and again getting members out on a cold January day.
Since our financial year runs 1st January through to 31st December it makes perhaps good practice to maybe hold a brief AGM prior to settling in for the annual Christmas lunch since it is so close to the end of the year anyway.
We are currently negotiating with the Harvester Restaurant next to Arnos Grove Underground Station on the Piccadilly Line, which will make it very easy for AVFW members and their guests travelling via public transport. The restaurant also has a large free car park. We are suggesting Monday 14th December at 12 noon for the event, but at this time the restaurant does not produce its Christmas menu until late October, so all members will receive the Christmas Lunch/Reunion information hopefully by early November together with the AGM information.
Last year's AGM information can be seen on the Charity Commission website.
