Veterans Day / Armed Forces Day
Wednesday, 28 January 2009 00:00

We are delighted to announce that in conjunction with the London Borough of Barnet, we have been granted the use of the hall at Chipping Barnet Library to set up our annual exhibition for Veterans’ Day, which this year falls on Saturday, June 27th. Watch this space as the programme is developed. For some unknown reason, the MOD have now re-named this day “Armed Forces Day.” Personally, every veteran we have spoken has said that this new name does not reflect recognition of veterans themselves. All ex-service men and women, whether they served in a conflict or not, are still an honoured and recognised veteran by name, and we all still honour and recognise our currently serving men and women, so we personally think the name change is totally unnecessary and deviates form the original purpose of recognising the services of our veterans on “National Veterans’ Day.” ‘Nuff Said!
