Just before Christmas, another dear friend, Jim Smith, was seriously ill with a variety of complications. Just after Christmas he was rushed to Lewisham Hospital and after some good treatment over several days – and Jim’s strong resolve and show of will-power to ensure he gets to Normandy this year – proved very beneficial and he was soon on the mend.

He returned home and thankfully after some pressure on local MPs, MEPs and Councillors, has additionally now received social services care for his daily needs and other necessary requirements. Well done Jim! Keep healthy, and we all look forward to you being with us for the 65^th anniversary of D-Day, 2009.
