Once again we commence the great crusade of remembrance of all those who gave their lives, on the 6th of June, 1944 and beyond.
Sadly, this year being the 65th Anniversary of D-Day is going to be the last nationally organised pilgrimage to Normandy due to the ever increasing ages of all our D-Day/WWII veterans. Over the years, organising pilgrimages such as this, it has become more and more difficult for our ageing veterans to cope with journeys like this due to their ongoing frailty and mobility issues. We welcome, for the very last time, smaller groups who will be coming in from the United States, Canada, and many parts of Europe and beyond.
We are delighted that for this final pilgrimage, we graciously received a donation enabling us to once again have a group of school pupils join our veterans entourage, giving them the opportunity for the very last time to travel with the veterans, hear their stories first-hand, view the beaches and battlefields where the actions took place, visit the many museums, as well as pay their respects to the veterans personally, as well as take part in the parades and wreath-layings.
